Public right of access

This and related rights makes nature travelling in Finland easy to enjoy.

In Finland freedom of roaming and related rights are guaranteed by law for everyone. Everyone may walk or ski freely in the countryside if this does not harm the natural environment regardless in whose possession the land is. Everyone is also entitled to pick wild berries, mushrooms and flowers ( as long they are not protected species). It is also every mans right to row, sail or use motorboat on waterways or swim in lakes or sea or skate or ski on ice

These rights can not be used such way that it harms land owner  or nature or others similar rights.

You may not for example disturb the privacy of people`s homes by camping too near homes  or you may not litter or cut down trees.

You will need landowner`s permission to make open fire.
